Fans of Amanda Palmer…excuse me, Amanda FUCKING Palmer…haven’t really had to wait to get new music from her lately. Since separating from Roadrunner Records earlier in 2010, AFP has done her best to give fans little musical treats now and then, and usually for name-your-price downloading…where the price could even be FREE if you wish.
And now, she’s offering up the first single from her upcoming album/ode to all things Aussie, Amanda Palmer Goes Down Under, with the same deal.
The track is titled “Map of Tasmania” which is a reference to…well…I’ll just borrow a little from her blog for this one:
apparently, in australia, you can hear bogans (aka jocks) shouting “SHOW US YOUR MAP OF TASMANIA” out of moving cars when they pass by tasty looking morsels of the female persuasion.whether this debased mating call actually works is a topic of debate in some cellar that i’ve never tread in (simply put: doubt it), but i loved the term of phrase.
Yes. This song is a dance-beat and ukulele ode to her/your/my/our ladygarden(s). Among other things.
Come on, you know you want this.
